"Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinquish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6:14-17

...WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY !!!!!

.....Sorry for the late update but it has been a long, wonderful day !! It started at 4am for some of us !! Joanna went in about 5:30 and they got a little bit of a late start but everything went great with her and Aubrey !! She was actually "glowing" and had a smile on her face when we met up with her in recovery. They were able to do their first ever pregnant donor harvest with great care and concern and speed ! Dr.P walked out of the surgery with his cooler with Jo's bone marrow inside and said they were able to get all they needed and that Jo did great ! She was able to be dismissed around 1pm and we put her in a wheelchair and headed to Jared's room where they had just hung the bag of bone marrow ! It was a awesome moment for all of us !! This has been a long day coming and it makes you very thankful for the people who do all this medical research !!! Jared's day has not been so great, he is just feeling funky but he did get up and get a walk in today ! We will have more details later but just wanted to let you know we are rejoicing at the Water's today !!! The Fort Worth Start-Telegram will be running an article on Jo/Jared and registering to be a donor on Saturday for those of you who are local.
Thanks again and again for all the prayers and support !!!

T-Minus 24 hours to Transplant...

The whole Waters family is gearing up for the big day tomorrow, it is hard to believe that we are in this place, but we are so aware of the peace and covering of the Lord on us during this time. There are a too many prayer request to list but we know that the Lord is aware of every detail and how everything is to work. Please just continue to pray over this significant event and that the Lord will give wisdom, insight and direction to all doctors, nurses, staff and family involved in this transplant and in the days and weeks to come.

To learn about the specifics of a Bone Marrow Transplant please go to the following link:
www.bhcs.com/healthinformation/1/003009.htm

Jared is up for visitors but we are asking anyone who may want to come up that you air on the side of caution and if you have had or have been around anyone who has had a runny nose, cough or any sickness recently, please choose not to visit Jared at this time. He is HIGHLY susceptible to ANYTHING for the next while.

More updates to come tomorrow!

All our love and appreciation,
The Waters Family

FINAL Round Begins!!!

We are currently on day two of chemo. So far everything is going well. Tuesday is the last day of chemo. On Friday Joanna will check in real early to begin her procedure. Jared will receive the transplant Friday afternoon.
We are glad to have Jessica back on Texas soil. She was gone to Italy for too long!
We are looking forward to having Aunt Marylyn here this week for extra support.
Terry (dad) has asked for everyone to remain optimistic but vigilant in prayer for this transplant. We believe this is last step in our long process but we want to remain focused on the Lord throughout.
We are working to endure our last long visit in the hospital. It can make for long days around here. Please know visitors are welcome at this time. We are in room 433, that is in the fourth floor of the Collins building.
Thank you for all your continued prayers and support!

Transplant Here We Come!!!

We finally got the official word! Jared and Joanna will get their blood work done on Thursday and then Jared will check in on Friday. Jared will start with a week of chemo and then next week Joanna will give her cells. Then we wait for the new, healthy cells to kick in. If all goes perfect this whole process will only take three weeks. However, we know we may be in the hospital longer.
Please be in prayer with us as we start this process. We are hoping this is the last step for Jared's complete healing. Love you all lots!

....3rd Qucik Update !!!

....Jared is going to surgery tomorrow , Tuesday...they are going to remove his head port...once and for all ! They think it is the source of some of his problems and they wanted it out before the transplant. He is having surgery late in the day so we will update you when we know something. He is not feeling all that great but the test have all come back ok so they think maybe it could be a viral infection that he just has to work out. If all goes well with the surgery then he should be able to go home by the end of the week. They will wait a couple weeks to make sure all went well with the surgery before they start the transplant. We are waiting on the "official" word from the insurance to get Joanna in..we hope by next week at the latest. Thanks again for hanging with us through all of this !!!

...QUICK UPDATE.....

Just wanted to let all you faithful people know that the school board approved the bone marrow transplant !!! We are very thankful for that to say the least !!! A BIG thank you to all the people at the school district who helped push this through....thank you for taking the time to think about Jared and Christina !!!
.....now the not so good news....Jared had to go back into the hospital on Thursday, he was having chest pains and some severe headaches...they are running test.
.....PLEASE pray for NO complications for Jared that would delay the transplant and for Joanna and Aubrey as they get ready for their part !!! And let's add in wisdom for the Baylor team as they have not ever harvested from a pregnant woman but seemed to have covered all their bases and are ready to go !! .....the Waters never do anything the easy way !!!
....Thanks again for ALL the support and we will have more details in the days ahead !!

Update

I have been home for one week tomorrow! On Monday night I fell and had a seizure at home. However, aside from scaring Christina I was ok. This week I have been feeling pretty sick, fever, achy, stomach pains, and tremors. I went to see Dr. P on Tuesday and Thursday (which takes a lot out of me). The good news is my blood work looks good and I don't have to see him this week until Thursday.
Christina's school board is meeting on Thursday and they will discuss waiving the preexisting condition. Therefore, the transplant could get going soon.
We want to thank everyone from KC for EVERYTHING done for us at the golf tournament. We know how lucky we are to have such a wonderful family and group of friends!
Please continue to pray for us. Love you all so much!
Jared
